We are two friends (although we only met 6months ago) in our early 20’s from the outer north-west of Sydney. Kate is a student nurse and when possible volunteers at the old folks home, Luke recently graduated with a Agriculture degree and works in agricultural services, and we both love 4x4ing so this rally will be just like a chicken track for us – easy peasy.
We are beyond excited to be taking part in Shitbox Rally 2019 Spring!! This rally the teams are driving their shitboxes from Melbourne through Birdsville and finishing in Townsville, all whilst travelling in a car that must be worth under 1k, hence the rally name 'shitbox'. This is all done to raise awareness for cancer.
Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for the Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 10th year. Part of the participation is that all teams have to raise a minimum of $5,000 but most teams raise well above this amount as you can see with the 2019 Spring rally target set at $2,000,000 plus. These funds go to the Cancer Council and which we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity.
Cancer has impacted many lives whether it is someone in your family, a friend or even yourself - I can name at least one person on each finger who I know has had cancer or died of cancer, I'm sure that is a similar tally for most people across Australia. The main reason for this rally is to raise awareness for Cancer, through conversation and donations to raise a minimum of $5000 that goes towards the Cancer Council, with the minimum raise it allows us to attend the rally and get the message out.
As much as we love a joke, cancer isn’t a joke so please dig deep and donate as best as you can, ANY DONATION IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,000, this year for the 10th year anniversary rally, over a 7 day across Australia endeavour to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.
Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
Almost $20 million has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:
These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
