Hi all.
This is Team Mountain Mungos (Frenchy & Wazza's) Fundraising Page - for the 2019 Spring Shitbox Rally. The goal of this rally is to raise funds for the Cancer Council.
We are really excited to be taking part in the Shitbox Rally 2019 Spring event. In October 2019, all the teams involved will be driving their shitboxes (2WD only - worth less than $1000) from Melbourne to Townsville, via Birdsville.
Shitbox Rally is the largest community led fundraiser for the Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 10th year. Part of the participation is that all teams have to raise a minimum of $5,000 but most teams raise well above this amount. The 2019 Spring rally target is aimed at $2,000,000 plus
OUR TEAM GOAL IS TO RAISE $8,000
These funds go to the Cancer Council and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. Both of our families have been affected by cancer.
* Frenchy's brother-in-law, Iain, died from brain cancer in 2016. He was diagnosed in February of that year & passed away in June. He was only 60.
* Wazza has a close family member who has neuroendocrine cancer.
So.... we will be working hard to raise as many $$$ as we can for the Cancer Council.
Our first fundraising effort was providing some of Frenchy's Wildlife 2019 'Calendars For Cancer' to donors. He's a bit of a 'Wildlife Nutbag' & likes to press buttons on a camera - a bit like a monkey on a typewriter. He eventually gets one right. This helped us raise over $3,400 in a few weeks (a big thanks to donors).
CALENDARS ARE NOW GONE !!!
Our next fundraising plans (after Xmas & New Year) are some meat raffles etc. at 'The Station Bar' - Katoomba - thanks heaps to John there for his support, and some Bunnings Katoomba Store - Sausage Sizzle days.
So....a 'HUGE' thanks for everyone's support of our fundraising efforts for the Cancer Council thru the Shitbox Rally.
Regards
John French & Warwick Noon - Team Mountain Mungos
Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,000, this year for the 10th year anniversary rally, over a 7 day across Australia endeavour to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
A huge thanks to donors - with $4,300 in the Cancer Council kitty as at December 10.
Katoomba People - Dec 21 5.30 - 6.30 pm - at the Station Bar near the Railway Steps. Join us for a Xmas Ham / Vege / Fruit Box Raffles. Cheers to John at the Station Bar for his support.

Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
Almost $15 million has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:
These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
