As fathers of two young boys we’re acutely aware of the impact that cancer can have on young families. Like many of you, we’ve witnessed first hand the impact that this awful disease has on children that lose a parent or grandparent and we can’t think of anything worse than our own sons having to cope with this tragedy.
Neither of us have done a lot for charity before so we’re going large, taking on a massive challenge, and aiming to raise enough money to make a real difference. We’re inspired by the founder of this event - a bloke our age who lost his parents to cancer and decided to bring people who’ve been touched by the disease together to fight it.
What are we doing?
We’ve signed up for the famous Shitbox Rally. A gruelling 3,614km drive across the Outback from Melbourne to Townsville in a car that we have to buy for less than $1,000! There will be dust, extreme heat, long, long days, and camping with the snakes and spiders.
Alongside 249 other teams, we’re aiming to raise over $2 million to fund cutting edge research.
How can you help?
The hardest part of this whole challenge is raising enough funds to make a real difference. We’re asking you, our friends and family, to give what you can. Think of those precious to you, and how we can impact their future by finding a cure for cancer in our lifetime.
We promise to do you proud. And take a lot of photos to make you laugh along the way.
Thank you so much for your support. We can’t tell you how grateful we are.
Here’s to the adventure...

Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,000, this year for the 10th year anniversary rally, over a 7 day across Australia endeavour to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.
Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
Almost $20 million has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:
These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
