Our Story …

We are really pleased to announce that we're taking part in Shitbox Rally 2019 Spring!!! This year, all the teams are driving their shitboxes (which they bought for less than $1000) from Melbourne to Townsville, via Birdsville. The Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for the Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 10th year. In addition, we will be driving our Shitbox from Sydney to the starting line in Melbourne, and then back home again from Townsville.

We are participating in honor and remembrance of Sean's dad Steve, his Aunty Gail and sister in-law Tracy, our mate Chris' dad Bill and our dear friend Amanda, as well as in support of Robert and Faith who are currently battling cancer.

We would love to make as big a contribution and difference as we can and hope to raise at least $5,000.

These funds go to the Cancer Council and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. The fundraising is the hard part, so any donation you can give is greatly appreciated.

As we get into the final stages leading up to the rally, make sure to follow our progress via this page, the blog post below and Brian's YouTube channel Brainsworld (https://www.youtube.com/brainsworld) to watch us on our journey! (First vid of us collecting our shitbox is now live!)

Here's what I'm doing …

Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,000, this year for the 10th year anniversary rally, over a 7 day across Australia endeavour to raise money for cancer research.

The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.

Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.

And here it is, Minge!

Our adorable little Mitsubishi Mirage sitting unloved in a paddock behind a mountain of used tyres.

Currently unregistered and needs.. a little TLC, but we couldn't think of any better box to put ourselves both into for an extended period.

More udpates on the car to come as we get started!

Part two of our journey is live!

Thank you all so much for your extremely kind and generous donations. Having now met our target we sat down and reflected on all the support from our friends and family and who we were doing this rally in memory and support of and it was extremely emotional. We're not done yet! Hopefully we can go even further raising money for the Cancer Council. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, it really means a lot.

Not long now until we hit the road and there is still so much to do! More updates to come.

The Impact, Outcomes & Charity

Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.

Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.

Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.

Almost $24 million has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:

  • A research study to develop a vaccine that protects against lymphoma cancers.
  • A research trial to standardise international guidelines on melanoma removal.
  • A research grant to revolutionise the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
